With the holidays fast approaching, it’s time to prepare for family and friends.
Nothing creates more stress than the thought of finally having to deal with the layer of dust on the bookshelves or the cobwebs hanging in the foyer.
But cleaning for the holidays can be less challenging when you have a clear plan and the right strategies to see you through.
Take it from someone who’s been in the business for 10 years, there are ways to take the stress out of home cleaning for the holidays. Here are a few ideas we use when getting our customers’ houses ready.
Be Prepared
The key to successful cleaning is to have all the necessary tools. Before our staff enters a home, they always make sure they have all the supplies they need, so take time to restock your cleaning products and have rags, brushes, dusters and gloves at the ready.
Also make sure your vacuum is in good working condition, because a good vacuum is vital to cutting cleaning time. Our teams prefer green products, and there are many good choices at your local grocery store or online.
Make a Plan
If you want to make cleaning easy, make a list. Do the deep-clean as early as possible in November to be prepared for the holidays.
Scrub showers and tubs, dust above mirrors and light fixtures – anything that won’t have to be redone before guests arrive. If you have a guest room, clean it and then lock the door.
Anything you can accomplish early will help you juggle time for the important things, like baking cookies and decorating!
Stay Safe
When preparing for guests, keep safety in mind. You want your home to be clean and organized. Rid areas of excess clutter and make sure your kitchen and bathrooms are cleaned and sanitized to reduce the risk of foodborne illnesses and the spreading of germs.
Clean Smells Great
Besides making your home look good, you want it to smell good.
Once your house is sparkling, don’t forget the wonderful aromas of the holidays. Putting a few drops of essential oils in strategic locations can bring a room to life, especially when hosting.
Essential oils are great for cleaning and can be defused throughout the home.
